Skin Tone Guide: Caring For Melanin-Rich Skin
Written by: The Curcia Team

Melanin-rich skin is strong and beautiful, and it has its own needs. Here is a simple guide to the four concerns we hear about most.
Uneven tone
Patches that look darker or lighter than the rest of your skin are often caused by sun, irritation or old marks. Daily SPF and ingredients like kojic acid can help even the look of your tone over time.
Dull skin
When dead skin cells build up, light doesn't reflect evenly and skin can look flat or tired. Gentle daily cleansing lifts away that build-up, and vitamin C supports a brighter-looking finish.
Dark marks
Marks left behind by spots, shaving or ingrown hairs can last longer on deeper skin tones. Avoid picking, wear SPF and be patient. Kojic acid and turmeric can help fade the look of dark marks with daily use.
Rough texture
Hard water, harsh soaps and shaving can leave skin dry and bumpy. Choose a cleanser that doesn't strip your skin, moisturise straight after washing and look for ingredients like raw honey that help skin hold on to moisture.
One thing we'll never say
Good skincare for melanin-rich skin is about an even, healthy-looking glow, not changing your natural colour. Curcia doesn't lighten or bleach skin, and it never will.
